With the mission of delivering the best health care to our community, Hoag established one of the first neurohospitalist (hospital-based neurologists) programs in the nation.
With the number of stroke patients reported each year, it’s critical to aggressively and expediently treat neurologic illness with an in-hospital team.
When experiencing a stroke or other neurological emergency, you will most likely be transported to the closest hospital, not to the nearest neurologist office. So why not house these experts right at the hospital?
Hoag believes it’s essential to have neurologists and neurosurgeons available at the hospital, especially during emergencies such as stroke. Our commitment is not only to pioneer this progressive concept, but also to continually expand our vision and work toward delivering the finest neurological care to the patients we serve.

JAY PUANGCO, MD
Jay Puangco, MD currently serves as Chief of Service for the Hoag Voltmer Sleep Center. He is one of the most sought after sleep physicians in Orange County.
DAVID BROWN, MD
David Brown, MD is a Neurologist and fellowship trained Stroke Specialist who has been voted one of the top Neurologists in Orange County.
DAVID MILLETT, MD, PhD
David Millett, MD, PhD is a passionate epileptologist who has established two epilepsy programs over the past 9 years in Southern California.
JASON MUIR, MD
Jason Muir, MD is uniquely board certified in Neurology, Sleep Medicine and Clinical Neurophysiology. He is highly respected by his colleagues and peers in the fields of neurology and sleep medicine.
ANDREW LY, MD
Andrew Ly, MD is advising and leading the charge in developing a concussion/head injury program for the community. He is a board-certified member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
VICTOR DOAN, MD
Victor Doan, MD is board-certified neurologist. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology: Neurobiology.
Erin Fromm, NP
Erin Fromm is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who specializes in neurological disorders, with specialty training in multiple sclerosis, NMO and other CNS neurodegenerative diseases. She began her career 20 years ago as an ICU RN caring for a wide range of complex disease states and prides herself on providing top level, compassionate care.
Anh Tuan Nguyen, ACNPC-AG
Anh Tuan Nguyen, ACNPC-AG has been working as neurology Nurse Practitioner in the inpatient setting for over 10 years. He is compassionate, detail oriented, and professional. We are delighted to have him as a team member at Newport Neurospecialists.
MIKI OHATA, NP
Miki Ohata is a board certified Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner who specializes in memory and cognitive disorders. She is excited for the opportunity to be part of the team to develop a memory and cognitive disorders screening program for Newport Neurospecialists.
